Walking
It saves money & leaves you and your neighborhood healthier by promoting physical activity and reducing air pollution.
Walking Tips
Check your weather
- Buy shoes with thick soles
- Wear a backpack to carry things vs. a purse with a single strap
- Slow down and enjoy nature
- Look before crossing any street even at a stop light
- Smile and wave, it feels good.

3.21 miles from my front door to my desk is about 6,763 steps… just one foot in front of the other. I started walking to work when I moved to Minnetonka when I began my career at UnitedHealth Group. I was a runner but my hips decided that wasn’t for me anymore, so walking became my passion. I’m fortunate to have access to a commuter locker and showers at UHG. Although we’ve been blessed with a cool spring, I look forward to autumn when the leaves start falling… as well as the temperatures!
