Strategies & Commute Resources
We are happy to customize a commute program and give you ideas and strategies that fit for your staff, location and company culture.
The following is a summary of the free tools and services available:
- On-site events to promote sustainable commute modes: Commuter Fairs, Lunch and Learns. Our staff is also happy to participate in Health & Wellness, Benefits, Open Enrollment and employee appreciation events at your workplace.
- Guidance on how to create commute incentive programs
- Promotion of commute options for a company newsletter, intranet posts or direct email.
- Commute information for new hires.
- Assist in enrolling in Metropass, a deeply discounted unlimited-ride transit pass for your employees that is only available through employers.
- Sign up for the quarterly Employer newsletter.
- Sign up for the monthly commuter newsletter.
- Display of materials for sustainable commuting, including transit route schedules
- Travel Demand Management (TDM) plan development assistance

Telework
Twin Cities Telework by Commuter Services offers an array of free telework resources for employers, managers and teleworkers. Find telework best practices, templates, webinars, articles and more.
Employers are invited to submit specific questions through the Ask an Expert feature; or sign up for the Twin Cities Telework newsletter.
Bicycle Commuting
- Hold an on-site bicycle safety check.
- Facilitate presentations on how to bike to work.
- Provide free bicycle commute resources and area trail updates.
- Provide free outdoor starter bicycle racks for organizations willing to promote biking to work.
- Demonstrations on how to place bicycles on transit racks.
Carpool & Vanpool
- Assist employers and commuters in formation of carpools and vanpools.
- Create maps for employees to see how many people live near them for ridematching.
- Conduct meetings to gather employees by home location to help form carpools and vanpools.
- Provide carpool and vanpool preferred parking signs and manage the program.
Transit
- Information and enrollment assistance on discounted transit passes including Metropass and the Transit Assistance Program (TAP).
- Facilitate “How to ride transit” presentations.
- Information on new and coming transit construction projects.
